Recently the ROA office has received a couple questions regarding whether or not composition roofing is allowable in a neighborhood that was built with all cedar shakes. The Design Guidelines state high quality composition roofing is an alternative. In addition, the ROA office has consulted with two outside architects who are of the opinion that cedar is too precious a resource to require its use on roofs. Based on this information the ROA would approve roofing material other than cedar shakes; however, please keep in mind that before making this change a modification application should be submitted. Also, please note only high-end composition material will be approved.
